Diffusion in Agar Cubes Experiment
Introduction
Diffusion is a paramount process to organisms because molecules enter the body cells and waste products are removed. Diffusion is the movement of particles from regions with dense areas to regions with lower density. Diffusions rate can be determined by many factors this includes, the size, synthetic composition, concentration gradient, surface area to volume ratio. The independent variable in this experiment is the size of the agar, this means that the dependent variable is the rate at which the agar cubes diffuse.
Cellular structure is the one of the key building blocks of the universe. Cells can transport different substances such as water, oxygen and nutrients, without cells nothing living could exist such as us humans as we need our vital organs and the many systems that keep us alive. Dissolved substances must enter through the cell membrane and entre into or out of a cell. Diffusion is what allows this process. This experiment could be improved through the test being repeated multiple times rather than having just nine experimental groups. The experiment could have also beeen improved by having molds that perfectly cut the size of the agar cubes perfectly, this would make the experiment more accurate across experiment groups, along with the agar cubes sitting in the mixture for ten minutes exactly, instead of the time being more or less, this is what happened in the experiment. Having three beakers instead of one would have created more accurate results by isolating the agar cubes, creating less room for
