The purpose of this lab experiment is to extract chromatin from an animal liver and strawberries. Unlike humans whom are diploid organisms with two sets of each chromosome, one from the mother and the other from the father, strawberries like most fruits are polyploidy, consisting of more than two copies of the same gene. Strawberries are octoploid that have eight copies of each gene, making it an ideal fruit for DNA extraction. Frozen strawberries are ideal because the ice in the intracellular fluid causes the cell to lyse and expand, destroying the cell and nucleus membrane of the cell. Strawberries are soft and easy to crush using a mortar and pestle.…
Strawberry Spring and A rose for Emily are two great stories that have some similarities between them. Both are full of mystery and surprise, but certain aspects of them made them different. Strawberry’s Spring Narration is better because the protagonist of the story is the one doing it. The ending is more surprising and changes completely the way in which the reader had understood the story. Strawberry’s Spring protagonist has a more interesting personality and has a more active role in the story than A Rose for Emily’s protagonist.…
Evaluation When performing the experiment, the pill bugs were generally unresponsive, and many stayed in the same place throughout the whole experiment. Outside of this, no major problems occurred while performing the experiment. If the experiment were to be performed again, more of the IV (baking soda, rubbing alcohol, etc.) would be added to produce a more pronounced effect on the pill bugs, as most pillbugs did not move at all. The results are mostly trustworthy and accurate, as the data is backed up by the research done prior to the experiment. Conversely, more trials could have been performed as experiments with living organisms tend to need a larger sample size.…
Record the result Analysis: The data shows that the heads and tails shared the average of 17-18 drops of water. It also tells that it doesn’t matter which side to use when doing an experiment. No matter which side of the penny was used, the result will come out the same. Discussion/Conclusion: Our hypothesis was supported…

We hypothesized that pill bugs would display a positive hydrotaxis and a negative chemotaxis, but our last experiment supports a reaction to chemotaxis. Since we placed them in a tray with all chemical-filled chambers, we weren’t able to tell if they drift towards diluted solutions because they contained more water. The products of the Chi Square Test told us whether the results of our experiments were significant or not. Our results in Part A and B were significant because the calculations proved the null hypothesis wrong and supported our hypothesis; the bugs displayed a positive hydrotaxis and a negative chemotaxis in these two situations. On the other hand, Part C can be invalidated because the bugs did respond when placed between 4 concentrated-chemical solutions.…
This science fair idea was interesting because of the way that bass react to the different types of lures and the effect of different topwater lures. The bass reacted by striking the bigger lures harder and more often, and because the lure acts like the bass food. This happens because of the different movement each lure gives. The point of this experiment is to find out how different sizes of bass will react to different sizes and movements of top water baits. A topwater lure is something that people mainly use for catching large and smallmouth bass.…
Does it Screen? Alexander Hamm Period 2 Ms. Ulrich 11/29 (Graphic that represents the lab) Abstract: My experiment is about testing which brand of sunscreen works best, Equate, Banana Boat, or Coppertone.…
The first hypothesis stated that if rabbits have brown fur, they will be more likely to survive under food conditions within a cold environment. The data from the experiment disproved the hypothesis. In the controlled version, where the food survival was out of play, there were more white fur rabbits at generations 3 (13 to 5) and 6 (340-150). When the food survival was put into play, there were more white fur rabbits at generations 3 (6-0) and 6 (1-0). While the white fur generation had nearly died out by the sixth generation with only generation, and could have easily died out by the generation after, it still fared better than brown fur bunnies, who died out before the third generation.…
My science fair project is: what is the effect of salinity levels on ghost shrimp? My hypothesis to that question is that all of the shrimp in the first cup, that had no salt, would all survive, the majority of the shrimp of the second cup, that had three pieces of salt, would die and about half of the shrimp in the third cup, that only had one piece of salt, would survive. My science fair project lasted for six days, and during those six days, the salinity levels and the shrimp proved my theory wrong. On Day one, all of the shrimp remained alive. On Day two, none of the shrimp died.…
Even by using very rigorous methodology there is still some level of error in our findings and will always be. It’s likely that if replicating the same study again with the same methods it may lead to the same conclusion but the strength of the conclusions may differ because of the error in sampling or measurement. Just using one study is not definitive and can easily be critiqued. When using statistical significance tests you will likely always find some difference when having a control and a logical manipulation (Abelson, 10). Because of these reasons it’s important to use the null hypothesis test as a guide, but not as the end all be…
However the conclusion was not drawn by a scientist or the scientists conducting the study but instead the author of the…
My observation will be on the behavior of kids interacting with other kids at the Boone’s playground. I will observe kids around 1pm on Monday. My hypothesis of my observation is that 65% of girls will interact with each other in the playground while only 35% of boys will interact at the Boone’s playground. I came up with this hypothesis because girls usually just sit around and just talk at the playground more than boys and the boys play sports than the girls. I chose this particular setting because of it is was my elementary/middle school and there are a lot of children so it is easier to observe them.…
Starburst Strawberry Chew is a Mars product. The wrapper is a pink flamingo with white lettering. It’s shape is like a squared pumpkin that is smooth and rigidity. When you open the wrapper a smell of strawberries fills the room. You are now able to see a flamingo pink chewy candy.…
It can be proven in many ways. Is it sufficient to do a single experiment to test a hypothesis? Why or why not? Answer: It can be sufficient to do a single experiment to test a hypothesis because one is enough but if you can get more then one then the hypothesis is more likely to be proven right.…
