One of the theory that caused the degeneration of Raskolnikov’s is the deontological ethics. This type of ethics was explored in Raskolnikov’s reason that humankind is divided into two categories ordinary people and people who are geniuses. Within in this theory he believes that ordinary people must obey the law but geniuses should have the ability to maneuver the law in any way that pleases them. From this principle he develops a few example that supports that supports that principal. Raskolnikov cites the French emperor Napoleon as the epitome of the superman type. Which would have been hard for Raskolnikov to do if he didn’t have Sonia’s help though the whole process. One of the values of friendship that Sonia offers Raskolnikov is advice. This advice was given to Sonia after he confessed to killing Raskolnikov which shows an element of trust in the relationship which is another prime value of friendship. Hence, to help Raskolnikov though the process of salvation Sonia first places two crosses upon his neck. Then she presents him with the message from Lazarus which is lesson of regeneration through humility. This message was to Go to the intersections, bow down to the people, and kiss the ground, for the people you have sinned against. Along with that task he was instructed to confess out loud that he was the murderer. After the message was relayed he followed along by kneel down to kiss the earth with bliss and rapture. Around the second time Sonia came out to watch and give him support which is another value of friendship. This made him fell reinforced to follow the path of redemption. He even stated in the book that “at that
