Rapunzel: A Fictional Narrative

Rapunzel was backstage awaiting her turn to go on stage, she watched as act after act went on and did an amazing job at making the audience happy. Hearing them laughing, having a good time brought a smile on her face. With each passing act that when on, it grew closer for her to go on. After every act she could feel her heart pounding in her chest, her palms began sweating and she fidgeted with her fingers. You’d think with as much time as she had spent on the stage she would get used to being on it. That couldn’t be further from the truth, every single time it grew closer for her to get on stage and perform she went through this and every single time she was finished she couldn’t believe she was nervous. It was like a weight was lifted off her shoulders.

She sat at one of the mirrors that was backstage, just staring at herself. She tapped her hands lightly against the top of the vanity, cocked her head to the side. She never wore make up, so she didn’t understand why they always told her to go take a seat and wait at one of them. She wasn’t like the other girls around here, she didn’t feel the need to paint her face up

She nodded her head and stood up. She made her way over to the young woman. “Yes?” She asked. “You go on right after this act.” She reached her hand out and placed it against Rapunzels arm, gave it a light squeeze before walking off. Rapunzel took in a deep breath, trying to steady the pounding heart in her chest. “It’s alright.” She whispered to herself. “Everything is going to be okay.” She spoke in a soft voice, her head lightly nodding. She waited and watched the person on stage, a warm smile on her lips. She loved watching everyone do what they did best. She closed her eyes and nodded her head along to the beat of the music, only opening them when she felt a tap on her shoulder. She quickly turned her head and looked at the
