They'll only slow me down, I've got to find the witch and get this thing out of me as soon as I can. Angelica, you know what Raphael knows and indirectly you know what Elmer and Henry know too, you will help me find her.
I'll have to get Raphael's approval.
No Angelica, you don't, I don't know what the relationship between you and Raphael is, but you are an individual, free to make her own choices, just as I do. You're either with me all the way or I'll toss the sword and go it alone.
Angelica did not respond and Jayna took that as acquiescence. At noon Jayna stopped near a spring bubbling with clear fresh water, to allow the unicorn to drink, eat and rest. They had already traveled further, since she had stolen away in the middle of the night,

Before she could follow that train of thought very far, a trio of five feet tall lizards walking on two legs, came out of the forest at the far end of the meadow. They were looking up into the trees and chirping like over-sized birds. Jayna stood up, then froze in fear, one of the things was looking at her, it opened its mouth wide, revealing a maw full of deadly looking teeth and emitted a loud squawk. Now they were all looking at her, after a series of chirps from the apparent leader, two of the lizards began moving and they formed a half circle around them, the unicorn struggled its feet, stumbled and fell back to the ground. The reptiles seemed to take that as an invitation and began a slow advance toward them. Jayna's right hand grasped the hilt of the sword and she pulled it from the scabbard like she knew what she was doing. When they were twenty yards away, she surprised herself and the reptiles both when she charged at the one on her left, it lunged forward and snapped at her. As a reward for its rudeness, Jayna's sword separated its head from its neck and she leapt over the falling body, did a somersault in midair and spun to face the other two reptiles who were rushing at her. They slowed their advance and spread to either side of her, wary of the flashing sword that dripped the blood …show more content…
While she avoided the claws of one, the other clamped down on her sword with its teeth and tried to pull it from her grasp. The other went down when the horn of the unicorn pierced its chest, Jayna stopped pulling the sword toward her and pushed it sideways instead, it came out of the lizards mouth, along with several of its teeth. It squawked again, in pain this time and rapidly backed away, when it noticed its last friend in its death throes, it hissed at her and ran back the way it had come from. When it reached the trees a net fell from above and the creature fell to the ground as its feet became entangled in it. Something dropped out of the tree and beat it with a wooden club until it stopped
