Some might even be unfocused knowing that at any second someone in their class could be lawfully carrying a gun. From a campus police point of view, arming students with weapons only make their job more difficult. If the victim has a gun when the police approach the scene it can be difficult for officers to decipher who the real criminal is. Guns will not raise the rate of people that come forward about being raped; they will still carry them self’s with a low self-esteem. Mixing weapons and low self-esteem can result in suicide on a college campus.
We all know sexual assault is a serious crime that can likely make college campus unattractive. Of all the possible methods to help reduce this from happing, arming students with a weapon is far the safest idea. Since safety is normally the primary goal that most colleges strive to obtain, they should consider both sides of the spectrum before passing laws that make this possible.
