Rapa Acid Rain

Improved Essays
How will acid rain affect the growth of seed development of Brassica rapa (mustard plant)? If we pour acid rain on a plant then it won’t grow and there will be the same amount of seeds because the acid poisons the plant and kills it. Based off of the results I recieved after doing the experiment, my hypothesis rejects the data and is the complete opposite. I made this hypothesis based off of all the harsh effects that acid has on things, but in this case I was proved wrong.

During this experiment we had record the heights each day to track to rate they were growing at. Once the 11 days were over, we had to find the average for each day and make a separate table. The average for day one was 1.88cm, day two 2.43cm, day three 3.25cm, day four 3.88 cm, day five 3.63cm, day six 5.75, day seven 6.63, day eight 7.5, day nine 7.88, day ten 9.25, and day eleven 18.83cm. In addition the averages for the experimental plant on day one was 1.18cm, day two 3.25cm, day three 3.5cm, day four 4.3cm, day five 4.75cm, day six 5.25cm, day seven 8.63cm, day eight 9.25cm, day nine 12.25cm, day ten 12.25cm, and day eleven 18.83cm. For the average number of seeds collected at the end of the lab, the average number for the controlled was 6 seeds and the experimental was 8 seeds. The resulted in this data because given to what I know about biology, I think the pH was too high to effect the growth rates and number of seeds. Due to the fact that they received a lot of water, the

This could have messed up our lab because the weaker ones will have a harder time developing and growing faster than the others. Another error could have been that we were over watering the controlled plants because they were watered three times a day and placed on a watering system. Over watering is bad for the plant because it fills the plant and doesn’t allow enough oxygen to get

To resolve the plants from reproducing we cut off the pods that the plants had been produced. Many plants were either close in growth or far apart in growth. That is when we started to develop outliers in our experiment which separated us from other groups’ data. We did not have any outliers in our experiment, our final measurement for our plants were very close in…

There is not a pattern to the data that was collected from the Cypress saplings. Groups 0.3 mmhos/cm and 2 mmhos/cm both fared better than 1 mmhos/cm. This leaves a hole in the pattern that was predicted to occur. I assumed that a gradual rate of health was going to appear from the results but no consistency was revealed. The most obvious course of conclusion is to say that not enough time was put into this experiment.…

The number of seeds does effect the growth of the plant, depending on some factors which are the size of the pot, and the watering method for both of the control and the experiment. Those environmental factors had influenced the growth of the pinto bean experiment plant. The pot size that was used for the control plant was 250 ml, which turned out to be insufficient for the experiment plant with more number of seeds, causing an ingrowth of what was supposed to be an experiment plant. In additional to that, infrequent care in watering the plants could be one of the reasons to the failure of the growth, leading to several effects on both the control and the…

Note that the four hormones have different concentrations. In order for this experiment to be valid, the amount of hormone exposed to each corn seed must be equivalent. It was decided that each hormone treatment would include a hormone paired with 6 mL of water. The control would be treated with 6 mL of water alone. For starters, it is important to convert the concentration of ABA into g/L.…

Hence the effect was not significant with the large deviation of data, if there was any effect of soaking. A larger sample size and longer growing time are required to make statistically significant conclusions. The choice of soaking times might need to change as well. Maybe 20 minutes was not long enough for seeds to react differently from 1 minute soaking.…

The warm water level and the control have about the same amount of growth. It seems like around 95% of the warm water and control groups germinated. Next, the power level one group has about 75% germination, with substantially less growth than the control. The next group is power level 5 which has about 75-80% germination and about the same growth as group one. Finally, power level 9 has about 70-75% germination, but surprisingly has about the same growth as the group 's, power level one and power level 9.…

The groups split into many smaller groups so that they could test the plants in many different sodium chloride concentrations. Each biology lab group spilt their class into six groups. The first group created a soil containing 6 percent sodium chloride, salt, by adding 15 milliliters of sodium chloride to one cup of soil. The next group took ¼ a cup of the six percent soil and mixed it with ¼ cup of plain soil making soil containing a three percent sodium chloride concentration. The group after that took ¼ cup of the three percent soil and mixed it with ¼ cup of plain soil making soil containing a 1.5 percent sodium chloride concentration.…

Following this step, we then put 20ml of each the CaCl2 and CuSo4 into 4 beakers. This allowed us to have to have more information on the effects they would cause. The fish water then was put into 4 beakers and with 20ml going to each one.…

The hypothesis of this experiment was that the salinity of water would decrease plant growth due hypertonic solution and the results support the claim. Over the experiment time, plant 1 grew 0.5cm (2.38% increase) which was as expected as it didn’t have a high salinity. Plants 2, 3 and 4 all decreased in height, with plant 2 height decreasing by 1cm (5.26% decrease), plant 3 decreasing by 1.5cm(8.33% decrease) and plant 4 with a decreased height of 2cm(10% decrease). As you can see from the graph, plant 1 stayed in the same position while as the other plants decreased with plant 4 having the most significant decrease in height. Research supports the claim that salinity effects the plant growth significantly, this can be shown by the slow, stunted growth and how the leaves get darker in colour (Earthwiseharmony.com, 2015).…

Abstract This experiment is about the effect of microwave radiation exposure on the percent that radish seeds germinate. The hypothesis in this experiment is if the radish seed is placed in the microwave for 8 minutes, then the percent of germinated seeds would be the lowest out of all the times. This experiment is important because if something happens and radish seeds are exposed to microwave radiation people would be able to know if the radishes would germinate if they knew the time they were exposed. This could also be used to find out if people could grow radishes in space because there is a lot of microwave radiation.…
