The movie home alone and the short story Ransom of red chief both share the theme, don’t underestimate your opponent. In the story ransom of red chief, red chief is underestimated until he tries to scalp Bill and from that point on Bill is deathly afraid of him. In the movie home alone Kevin is underestimated by the robbers up until the point where he puts traps up all over the house to keep him from robbing his home.

The characters Kevin and red chief are similar because they are smart,brave,strong, and fearless. The robbers are similar because they are foolish,cruel,unintelligent,inconcectiv,dishonest, and greedy. Kevin is smart because he set up traps, he is brave because he stayed home by himself, he is strong because he could use a slingshot
