The thriving 21 year old signed his name on the mission’s trip sheet. Little did he know, this endeavour, he was about to partake in would change his life in ways unknown. Randy Schertz was a young, lean man who was ready to take on a challenge. He was very interested in the missions work his church was doing. The Mennonite church he attended, was wanting a few young adults to sign up and do some work in Brazil. Randy wanted to serve the Lord and felt he was being called to work in Brazil. For the next 2 years, he would have an experience that would not only change him, but be the best thing that ever happened to him. Looking out the window of the plane, Randy thought about what was in store for him. He had never been to Brazil. Being a young adult, the idea that the world is bigger than Eureka scared him. He was traveling with four other friends who were also interested in serving the people of Brazil. When his plane landed in Recife, Brazil he could taste the salty air and feel the Atlantic breeze on his warm face. The sights and sounds were unlike anything …show more content…
He passed by and smiled, he continued on with his doings and went back to the school. Later that evening, some of the young men he had become close with invited him to a small local party. Reluctantly, he went to the party. There again he saw the golden girl from earlier that day. He approached and they chated. Immediately, he felt a sense of attraction towards her and they hit it off. Her personality was contagious, he wanted to consume all of the information she was telling him about her life and the city she lived in. After the party, he parted with the woman, who he found out, her name was Tereza. He hoped it was not the last time he saw her. To his delight, it was not the last time he saw her.
