For example, “A locker space is owned by the school that students are given the privilege of using to store their supplies.” (Viewpoint) . This describes how if it isn't yours, you don't have the right to refuse a search. On another note, this may be argued that lockers are temporarily or partially student's property, but students do not pay for lockers which gives the school the right to search them.
My third and final reason as to why random locker searches can happen at any time is because it keeps the school safe. For example, “Nathan Shoate, a security aide, opened nearly 100 lockers before he lifted a heavy coat and found a loaded revolver. Other school officials found cocaine in the coat, and the 15-year-old boy who owned the coat was found criminally delinquent.” . This supports that students shouldn't even be carrying illegal items in the first place. On the other hand, if students think there lockers might be searched they are more likely to carry weapons on their person. This could be solved by kids showing what they are hiding in there pockets also.
In all, random searches can happen at any time because it prevents increasing violence, lockers aren't student's property, and it keeps the school environment safe. Although some people may disagree, i feel that it is the best way to keep everyone safe and have a better, well functioning
