Anyone who read this understand that the citizens don’t have any privacy at all, especially the members. “It was the Police Patrol, snooping into people’s windows (p2).” Everywhere there is a telescreen capturing movement and activity of a person. “The instrument (the telescreen, it was called) could be dimmed, but there was no way of shutting it off completely (p2).” Not only is it invading individual privacy, but it also very annoying sometime when the exercise leader yell at people. “6079 Smith W! Yes, you! Bend lower, please!...Now stand at ease, the whole squad, and watch me (p36).” As if invading privacy is not enough, the Party is trying to limit the language. They are trying to keep people from being a thought criminals. “We’re cutting the language down to the bone (p51).”

Symes and Parsons is very different in their behavior and physical appearance. Symes is an intelligent man that speak his mind clearly, but there some stupidity in him. “He said things that would have been better unsaid, (p55).” He doesn't even take a second to think that the Party is watching and listening to him. On the other hand, Parsons is kind of acting childish.

Language features in once. In the novel once Morris Gleitzman portrays Felix as a caring character because he cares for Zelda his new friend and the orphans by telling them stories from his imagination. On page 66 Morris Gleitzman writes about how Felix was caring towards Zelda “Once I spent about six hours telling stories to Zelda, to keep her spirits up-” clearly Morris is telling us that Felix obviously cares about her and doesn’t want Zelda to feel down in the dumps. Keep in mind that Zelda does not know her parents are no longer alive but Felix does, so trying to save Zelda from the heartache is also another example of how caring Felix is.…

On an asphalt baseball field in Brooklyn, two teams from local Yeshivah schools meet. At first, it just seems like a baseball game between two Jewish high school teams. But the game quickly turns into a holy war when the caftan and ear lock wearing Hasidic team begins to taunt and bully the less conservative “hell-bound sinners” on the other team. Hate boils as Danny Saunders, the leader of the Hasidic team, purposely hits a pitch right back at the pitcher, crushing his glasses and landing him in the hospital for a week. This is how Chaim Potok 's book The Chosen begins.…

Hi Peeps, Today's Quote "Take notice and become inspired by good people who take care of themselves, committing to their personal responsibilities to God, and proper treatment of others. They are living examples of love's possibilities." ~ Jon Barnes Treatment I have learned to ignore what people say and focus of what they have done, what they are doing, and what they will possibly do, based on their character and obvious treatment of others. People who exercise their faith in practicing self improvement will change a little each day, showing great subtle progress. The eyes of God can see and measure this progress, because your can feel, observe, and follow the growth and harvest of true love being delivered in the lifestyle of responsible people.…

They look and seem like opposites, but when you look under the surface they may be the exact same. They may have the exact same interests, and talk about the same topics. In 1984, by George Orwell, and A Long Way Gone, by Ishmael Beah, the stories are set in two seemingly very different societies but the protagonists, Winston Smith and Ishmael Beah, live very similar lives in reality. At first, one would not believe this, based off of just a summary…

The novel brings out the character of Mr. Utterson as both an exciting character on one end and a flat and boring character on another end. At the onset of the story, the author describes Mr. Utterson as a ''lean, long, dusty, dreary.' This character creates a balance to and offers a rational perspective on the ''strange case'' that has befell his friend, Dr. Jekyll. It is evident that Mr. Utterson works as a lawyer; though the narrative does not reveal what he does on a daily basis. However, he comes out as a person who is renowned and popular in the London area where he lives (Stevenson 37).…
