Anders cites, “When I thought living in America, I pictured straw yellow hair, surfboards, snow…I tasted ketchup and mustard and mayonnaise; smelled streets and new cars and sometimes horses and barns, dollar bills and bacon”(201), but in this quote Anders forgets to mention the middle part of the quote which reads, “I saw girls and boys holding hands and breaking up and kissing in public; I heard rock music and singing”(201). Anders skips a part where Nidali pictures America, but I think the middle part is as import as the beginning and the end.
