Ramona High School Compare And Contrast

My old high school, Ramona High School, is described as a small campus. The current population of students is around two thousand and the school ranks low in many categories; grades and test scores are below average. Students from surrounding schools consider our school as ghetto, when in reality it is not. Over the four years I attended the school, it has significantly improved. The number of violent altercations went down and the test scores have vastly improved. Our test scores are relatively high, but most students do not put in the effort to succeed in class. When comparing Bentley to Ramona, there are similarities, but also some differences like Bentley is slightly larger when comparing it to my old high school. Bentley’s populations is five thousand students because it is primarily a business school. The classes at Bentley challenge the students and make undergraduate students put in time and effort to get a good GPA. Bentley also has a stellar reputation with a majority of students graduating with a job or …show more content…
Both institutions may look different because one is a college and one is a high school, but they both help students succeed in life by providing them with knowledge and resources. Finding the connections between two things makes the process of comparing and contrasting challenging. Comparing and contrasting can also led to constructive arguments when one side agrees that the two objects, things, or places are similar, while the other person tries to contrast both things. Comparing and contrasting can be used as an argument because everyone has a different mindset and a debate can arise. For example, two people can compare and contrast baseball and basketball. One of the debaters can say both sports are entertaining while the other debater can disagree and make his case for why one sport is not as

In the article “Is Segregation Back in Schools”, Richard D. Kahlenberg discusses how rich schools have a higher chance of the students coming out with better grades because the children are more willing to learn and succeed. The children that attend less wealthy schools can succeed “but they are much more likely to do so if they are surrounded by peers with big dreams”(Kahlenberg.2). Due to this, many people believe it would be best if schools were made to maintain both privileged and underprivileged…

(United Kingdom), I went to school on an Air Force base, I lived in a nice neighborhood, in a nice house, my dad had a good paying job, and as a result my school was well-funded, it had many resources, to say the least. The school had new computers (at the time), and they were numerous, there were many classes and clubs that the school offered, and the school was large. As compared to the schools that I went to when I came back to Cruces, the schools were small, the computers were often a little older or outdated, the buildings were not as nice, they looked dirty, just overall the schools were not as nice as the education facility that I went to in…

“You’re just a white girl trapped inside a black body,” were words I heard repeatedly as a child. For the longest time I considered those words a compliment. As an African American girl native to the Congo, I was naïve enough to think this statement meant how fully immersed with American culture my appearance, language, and every aspect of my personality was becoming. To me, those words held acceptance from my American friends and families—the only imaginable thing any foreign child yearns for. It hadn’t occurred to me that underneath that statement hid a message very twisted that would follow me for the next 12 years of my life.…

Memphis is the type of city that has continuously been noted in the news for its high crime rate statistics and sometimes its low academic achievements in the metro area. However, in a city that has almost a million people residing in it, higher crime rates can be expected. Ideally, if the schools in Memphis focused more on the success of all of its students as opposed to the children already born with an advantage in life, we’d be able to boast of the virtually lower crime rates. Humbly, I don't allow myself to simply observe the horrors of a somewhat localized and flawed academic system. I submerge myself in helping some students by tutoring in subjects like math and english, because I am aware that not everyone has the same opportunities…

I was observing students between 9 A.M. and 12P.M. on a Monday morning, September 12, 2016. I was able to observe about 15 current and prospective students. The college is located in Central City area neighborhood on Buckeye and 12 street, and most of the students at this campus are considered to be “at-risk” students. The student population of Gateway is very diverse, but they have a lot of similarities as well.…

Board Meeting Observations The June 13th school board meeting’s main discussion point was about proposed changes to the middle school magnet program. Several years ago Cabarrus County began IB and STEM magnet programs at several elementary schools, one middle school and two high schools. The problem is that one middle school houses only IB and STEM. There are no non IB or STEM students at the school, therefore it has the feel of a private school. The elementary and high school programs are not in isolated schools they are programs with all students.…

Over the course of my seven years teaching high school social studies, I have had the opportunity to learn about the evolving roles and responsibilities of a school administrator from three amazing principals. Henry Kluttz, Kelly Withers, and Angelo DelliSanti have been excellent models for anyone aspiring to be an administrator. Having recently started my own journey towards this leadership role, my knowledge of what makes a great principal has grown exponentially. Having the opportunity to interview a pair of veteran elementary school principals through this assignment has been an eye-opening experience. Having spent the entirety of my teaching career at the high school level has left me with a limited understanding of how an elementary school functions.…
