Dodge Ram 1500: 2009 to 2010
The fourth-generation Dodge Ram 1500 was released in 2009 and lasted two model years before the truck line was consigned to an all-new Ram brand.
Earlier generation models included the first-generation model built from 1981 to 1993, the second-generation Ram from 1994 to 2001, and the third-generation Ram 1500 built from 2002 to 2008.

The standard engine with the 2009 model was a 3.7-liter, V-6 paired with a 4-speed automatic transmission. Also available was a 4.7-liter, V-8 paired with a 5-speed automatic transmission. Dodge also made available a 5.7-liter, V-8 in quad and crew models. This engine also comes paired with a 5-speed automatic transmission.
All Ram models come outfitted with a variety of standard and optional features including power accessories, a tilt and telescopic steering column, audio packages, and seating choices ranging cloth to leather. Also available are such technologies as a navigation system, a rearview camera, Bluetooth connectivity, iPod integration, and heated and cooled front seats.
Various packages brought in larger wheels, skid plates, improved shocks, and enhanced towing capacity. Dodge also offered RamBox, a unique storage system providing secure storage inside the truck bed’s walls.

The third-generation Dodge Ram 1500 was introduced in 2002 and sold through 2008. This model continued with the three cab choices, two bed sizes, and the 4x2 and 4x4 configurations of the previous model.
The three engines choices were: a 3.7-liter, V-6; a 4.7-liter, V-8; and a 5.9-liter, V-8. Both the V-6 and smaller V-8 are paired with a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic transmission. The larger V-8 offered the automatic only.
In 2004, Dodge replaced the larger V-8 with a 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 and paired this engine with a 5-speed automatic transmission. Dodge also introduce an 8.0-liter, V-10 engine and paired it with a 6-speed manual transmission or a 4-speed automatic transmission. Dodge also began to replace the 5-speed manual with a 6-speed manual elsewhere and upgraded the 4-speed automatic to a 5-speed.
Latter third-generation models also rolled out new and increasingly sophisticated technologies, including keyless remote start, Bluetooth connectivity, a rear-seat DVD entertainment system, and a navigation system all in 2006. These changes were part of a wider update for the model
