“No, I’m not.I just think you’ll get back all right.” When Ralph realizes the harsh reality of rescue, Simon says this to Ralph to reassure him that everything will be alright. He could have said that they are dead, that no one will rescue them ,but instead, he lets Ralph know he’ll survive because of his kind nature. In Golding’s novel, Lord of the Flies, Piggy says “But we’ve got to have a list. There’s you and me and Samneric and-” This was a difficult time for Ralph because a majority of the boys left to join Jack’s tribe. Very few boys that stayed were able to help Ralph maintain civilization. Samneric along with Piggy was loyal to Ralph and influenced to join Jack’s tribe like the others.
