“The greatest glory in living lies not in never failing, but in rising every time we fail”, stated Ralph Waldo Emerson. What Emerson is trying to explain is if people do not experience the consequences of failure and learn from it, then one will not achieve the greatest glories of living their life. His view of failure being a successful idea, rather than a negative idea, expresses how incompetently failure is labeled in today's age. Consequently, if failure is deemed to be feared to accomplish, then everyone who wants to try succeed may never attempt to do so. Thus, failure is not something we should fear and view as a negative notion, but instead we should embrace and learn it is something positive that leads to the foundations of success. …show more content…
The dictionary definition of failure, is stated as “an unsuccessful person or thing; lack of success”. However, with a definition like that, no wonder nobody wants to be labeled as a failure. This is why nobody wants to even try to accomplish their goals, because they fear the fact that failure can be inevitable. For example, remember when we were younger and the “cool thing” to do was climb across the monkey bars? Everyone one wanted to do it. Yet, even though some wanted to try it, some didn't at all. We were afraid of getting up on the bars and failing so miserably that our classmates started ridiculing the failure perceived before them. That's why failure has such a bad reputation. It's considered an unacceptable concept, under any circumstance, when in fact, it should be immensely accepted as a positive
