The reason why Ralph represents the leader is because one thing is that he got elected out of the group of boys to be in charge, and another reason being that he wants everybody on the island to survive with him, while Jack is the kind of character who wants to be the boss of the group and wants to be able to control the boys. For example when Ralph is in charge he wanted the group to build huts so that they could have shelter on the island, and an example of Jack being a poor leader is when he went with the other group of hunters and went killing the pigs on the island as if it was a sport just for the killing of the pigs, Jack was even the one who said “Get him it’s the beast!” which was when Simon went into the middle of the group and got killed by all of the boys by accident. Another example of when Jack was very pitiful was when he stole the glasses from Piggy without telling him, so when Piggy went to get his glasses from jack, Roger then rolled down the boulder on to him which then killed
