Ralph Lord Of The Flies Analysis

Leadership on the Island In the novel, “Lord of the Flies,” A group of boys get stranded on an island after their plane crashed. There was a group of choir boys, a group of of young boys who are called “Littluns” and a very smart boy named Piggy. Like in any group, there had to be a leader. A leader has to be strong and demand respect. A leader also needs to stand his ground and believe in himself. Everyone voted Ralph as the leader but the group of choir boys already voted for somebody else. A boy named Jack. Jack thinks that he is a better leader and is more qualified to be the leader. In the novel, Golding often contrasts the qualities of Jack and Ralph. Golding first talks about Ralph, his qualities, and personality. Golding basically shows “how a good leader with the wrong intentions can, and will, overthrow a bad leader with the right intentions” (123helpme.com). Clearly, Ralph would have been the better leader on the island. Ralph would have not let all of the destruction and chaos happen. Even though Ralph did not have as much experience in being a leader as Jack did, he would still have been a great leader because he had very good leadership qualities and the one with the right intentions. Jack on the other hand, took so much advantage of everything when he was the leader. He wanted to be the top of the top on the island. Jack had previous experience being a leader and he had the qualities, but he only thought of himself and not for the others on the island.
