Designer of the American Dream

To fashion, to clothing, to furniture, Ralph Lauren is one the most well-known designers in the world. He was born in the Bronx of New York. Hired by Beau Brummell ties as a designer. He then continued into his own work. Due to his accomplishments as a designer, Ralph Lauren is one of the most well-known designers all around the world (“Lauren”).
Ralph Lauren grew up like an average kid. On October, 14, 1939 he was born in the Bronx, New York. He was the youngest of four children. His name wasn’t always Ralph Lauren. While in school, he worked part time at some local department stores. While working, he saved all of the money he made to buy clothes. He then quit school after attending only for a few months (“Ralph Lauren Designer”).
Lauren quit school to pursue his dream of fashion. In 1971 Ralph opened his first polo/ Ralph Lauren store in Beverly Hills. In 1986 he opened New York City Flagship store in Rhinelander Mansion in California. In 1992 he received Council of Fashion Designers of American Lifetime Achievement Award. In 1997 he reached worldwide sales of five billion dollars (“Ralph Lauren Designer”).
There has been a lot talk about his designs and clothing. Woody Hocheswender, editor of Esquire magazine, describes Lauren as, “A great interpreter of American Traditions.” Ralph Lauren himself has said, “I style like am telling a story.” Ralph Lauren describes the enduring appeal of his clothing by stating, “my clothing is anti-fashion. I design with the point of view that what I’m doing is for a person with a strong sense of style. I don’t want anything not to be this years ‘hot look’. “I believe that fashion is a function of life style.” He was a trendsetter for a neat and clean-cut look.
