Ralph H. Baer’s childhood was pretty bumpy a lot of twists and turns here and there, but what really makes him admirable is how his invention changed history for the better. Baer was born on March 8th, 1922 in Rodalben, Germany. Though being a Jewish family in Germany at this time only led to trouble, so in 1938 Baer, his sister and parents fled from Germany to Holland. Once Baer was of age, he went to college and graduated from the National Radio Institute (NRI) as a radio service technician in 1940. As an aspiring radio technician, Baer ran three radio service stores in NYC from 1940 to 1943. He serviced all types of different radios, old to new, and also built PA systems.
