Just like in the world today there are leaders and followers. In the novel The Lord of the Flies Ralph and Jack are both competing for the leadership position over their group. Ralph and Jack both believe they are the best fit for the position. It is the same in our lives where people always they think they are the best at that specific task. In the novel The Lord of the Flies written by William Golding, Ralph and Jack, who both think they would be the best leader for their group, but Ralph is more relatable to the groups of boys than Jack. In the book The Lord of the Flies, Ralph and Jack are both very good and intuitive leaders. They both also have very good leadership skills. At the beginning of the novel, Ralph and Jack were both dropped on the island with the mindset that they are the leaders. Both of the immature boys have great qualities of being a good leader. Jack has showed his experience of being a leader. For example, In the novel The Lord of the Flies Jack says, “Choir! Stand Still”.[Golding 19] Ralph is also experienced when it comes leadership. Like stated in the novel, Ralph says while holding the conch, “Listen everybody I’ve got to have time to think things out...three of us will go on an expedition and find out. I’ll go, and Jack, and,and…”[Golding 22]. Both of these quotes from the novel clearly state how Jack and Ralph have been experienced in the position of a good leader.

Being an extraordinary leader means someone that can relate to their group and also be a leader without being cruel or harsh with his or her words. Ralph is definitely more relatable to the group of boys, therefore he would be a better leader. In the novel The Lord of the Flies, Ralph says “Listen everybody I’ve got to have time to think things out...three of us will go on an expedition and find out. I’ll go, and Jack, and,and…”[Golding 22]. What Ralph is saying in this quote is that all you do is have to listen to him and he will get something done. On the other hand, Jack is short and harsh words with his choir boys. He says things like “Alright, choir take of your togs”. He could have said that in a lot nicer way and not had to have been so short with the choir boys. Overall Ralph would be the leader for the group of young
