Rajana Natarajan's Article: An Analysis Of Racial Profiling

The comic that was chosen was of the two police officers stopping a citizen. The citizen clearly looks harmless, but one officer has a gun pointed at him anyways; the other officer has colored sticks out that represent different types of races. He is racially profiling the citizen and is more focused about the color of his skin rather than the “crime” he committed. Racial discrimination and racial profiling has ruined lives of many people and their families. The law enforcement needs to stop basing their assumptions off of a person 's skin color and focus more on the crime. This make their lives hard to live, they could be doing nothing wrong and get in trouble because some cop first look at the color then the crime. One reason why some police officers should stop racially profiling is because the public has lost its trust in the law enforcement. There are a lot of video on the internet that show police officers treating certain people unfairly because of their race and it 's not real justice. Not only the victim but his family and his community. In Maria Luiza 's article "Police Practices In New York: Between Racial Profiling, Discrimination And Unconstitutionality." She talks about the neighborhoods in poverty and how they are experiencing unequal treatment towards them and their families. She also says that the citizens who live in impoverished communities are exposed to all theses homicides and crimes. This can change how a child growing up views police officers for the rest of his or her life. Maria also talks about how one white man punched an officer in the face and he went to jail where he repeatedly began to act violent to the officers. “Meanwhile, unarmed black men have been deadly shot for driving without license plates”( Luiza). Who knows if that man who was shot just because he didn 't have a license plate had a family; this is how racial profiling can ruin lives of the victim and the people around
