To begin, whenever there is an election around the corner it seems like all the politicians want to talk about is raising the minimum wage, and that is probably just to raise their voting poles, alongside, the politicians probably won’t even do anything about minimum wage once they are elected. Alongside, “most minimum wage workers are employed by small businesses with less than 500 people” (Steele 2). To clarify, “Not only will workers and small businesses suffer, but a minimum wage hike will also be bad for consumers and the economy” (Steele). Also, “to keep their profit margins, most businesses will pass these higher costs to consumers in the form of higher prices” (Steele).
On the other hand, “According to the .U.S. Bureau of labor statistics, more than 3.8 million employees currently have minimum wage jobs” (Knight 1). Moreover, Most of the people with minimum wage job are teenagers or just low life’s that want to work in a fast food joint their entire life. For instance, “instead of being a job killer as some claim, raising the minimum wage will actually be a job creator” (Knight 1). However, this is not true businesses like small businesses don’t have the funds to pay everyone a higher wage so they will let people go.
Last, more people need to research on this topic before coming up with a final idea. For instance, raising the minimum wage might not be bad and might not be good, so it might be a little early to come up with a complete plan without enough facts about it. Put another way, let’s all get along and help each other out, it’s not that bad to be on food
