Raising Literacy Standards: A Case Study

This research case study aimed to identify how the pupil premium is used by a secondary school to raise literacy standards. The case study looked at one intervention funded by the pupil premium. Data was gathered by email interviews, semi- structured face-to-face interviews and numerical data on pupils’ attainment levels. The research concludes that while the school has many interventions and strategies to raise literacy standards using the pupil premium there is always room for improvement. The relationship between low income and literacy levels has received much attention within research and policy.
