Sandy Hill is a neighborhood that is well-known for its diverse culture and infrastructure, and it is located in Ottawa, Ontario, bordered by the Rideau Canal to the West, the Rideau River to the East, the Rideau Street to the North, and the Queensway to the South. Nowadays, the neighborhood is populated with students and diplomats because of the academic institutes in the vicinity, and one of those schools is called the University of Ottawa. Some of the neighborhood’s notable landmarks include the residence of the previous Prime Ministers, Laurier House and the house of WW1 ace Billy Bishop. Sandy Hill got its name from the altitude of the ground in comparison to the terrain due to the sandiness of the soil and its hilliness, making it difficult to construct tall edifices.
