One difference is the tone throughout the play and the movie. In the play the tone is more depressing and down. It’s shown in the delivery Lorraine Hansberry gives the little details throughout the book like the light or the expressions the characters make. In contrast, the movie is more upbeat and happy. The movie adds semi comedic scene breaks with fun music overlaid. Such as when Walter is running to the bathroom and fun playful music is being played in the background. Another difference is the visual changes between the play and the movie. In the play the youngers are written to have ragged clothes and only one window in the apartment. Unlike the play the movie depicts the youngers to have normal clothes and more then one window. The most important difference between the play and movie, however, must be the scene additions and subtractions. The play has the scenes of Beneatha and Walter dancing and Beneatha’s origin for being a doctor. Conversely the movie cuts those scenes and adds Walter/Mama at their jobs,Mama at the grocery store,ruth at the barbershop abortion clinic, Bobo gets a ticket from a racist cop,and Walter giving the plant to Mama. Obviously,the differences between the play and the movie are distinguishable and show a distinct and separate
