Rainsford In George Orwell's The Most Dangerous Game

In the story The Most Dangerous Game, the main character Rainsford is a well known hunter and is on his way to Rio to hunt. He thinks that animals have no understanding, the only thing that they understand is fear. Rainsford also says that there are two classes in the world, the hunters and the huntees. Thoughts on Rainsford are that he doesn’t think that animals have any feelings and he is very confident, he basically thinks he is all that. But later in the story I think his mind will change after everything he’ll go through. When Rainsford fell overboard trying to save his pipe, which fell when he tried to see where the three gunshots came from, he tried to cry out for help, but the wash from the yacht slapped him in the face, and the salt water in his mouth made him gag and strangle. With strong strokes he tried to go after the receding lights of the yacht, but he stopped. He had realized that this was not the first time he had been in a tight place. Rainsford had remembered that the shots had came from the right, so he decided to swim in that direction, slowly swimming and conserving his strength.When Rainsford had about a hundred strokes that he could do, he heard a sound. As Rainsford picked up the empty cartridge, which had caught his eye, he thought to himself that it had to have been a fairly large animal for someone to use a twenty-two. He examined the ground closely and found the prints of the hunting boots, they pointed along the cliff in the direction Rainsford had been going. As Rainsford approached the lights, he came upon a spiked iron gate, there was a massive door that had a gargoyle for a knocker.
