Rainsford’s Greatest Hunt Rainsford one of the best hunters in the world who wrote books about his hunting adventures, and even became the hunted at one time. In The most dangerous game, our character Rainsford is brave, smart and resourceful. At the beginning of this story we get insight on what Rainsford attitude is towards animals as he says “You’re a big game hunter not a philosopher. Who cares how the jaguar feels.” So it seems like he is very into hunting and does it all the time and wants to do so for as long as he can. He also has no feelings for the animal he kills. So at the middle of the story he falls of the boat into the ocean smoking his pipe and swims to this island. He meets the General there and Rainsford finds out he is also a hunter. Later finds out that the General got bored of hunting animals and now he hunts humans. Then Rainsford goes out and is getting hunted by him, but he uses his hunting experience against the General. The things he does is what makes him smart. When the general uses dogs to track Rainsford he uses various traps to kill the dogs. The General even told him “You’ve done well, Rainsford””You’re burmese tiger pit has claimed one of my best dogs.” So if he is going to get hunted he will hunt to. Towards the end of the story he uses his knife as a trap to kill the general but it kills Ivan on accident the Generals butler, helper. At that point Rainsford was on the verge of going insane and starts to chant quietly “nerve, nerve, nerve.” To keep himself from going insane, so he can stay sharp and defeat the General. He does this without any problem and when the general left for his castle Rainsford swam to his castle and met him in his bedroom killing the General.
