The Matrix was really enjoyable to watch, this being the first time that I actually payed attention to the film. I found that during the course of the film, the color scheme, the way in which the shots were composed (both the camera angles and how they framed the subjects), as well as the mise en scène of the shots all worked to give this film a very animated/comic book-esque feeling. What was interesting to me about this was, although it felt animated in a similar way as Do the Right Thing or Singin’ in the Rain felt, the way in which the animation forms in both movies is very different. While watching The Matrix, I didn’t find the characters being overly animated themselves, but rather it was more the entire composition of the film. I’m not sure if this was the result of the special effects or that fact that this is a Science Fiction movie, but I thought it was interesting when compared to other movies that give the same feeling this one goes about it in a completely unique way.…
