Railroad Track Safety

There are many dangers when you are around a railroad track. There are many safety features to help keep pedestrians and cars safe. Some of these safety features include, lights, alarms, arms, lines, and signs. These are here to help keep you and others around you safe. You are 40 times more likely to be killed in a collision with a train than you are with another car. The difference between a car and a train is like a car to a 12-ounce soda can. Imagine how easy it is to crush a soda can with just your strength let alone a car. This information is really eye opening for me in what a train can really do to your vehicle and you. The first example I’m going to tell you about is about two teenage boys driving. The boy driving was texting while driving and coming to a railroad track. The buddy sitting in the front told him to put down his phone and especially because they were coming to a shared road with the train tracks. He put his phone down and said that it was not worth the risk of crashing with a train and possibly losing his life. Another example they game was, two girls walking on the side walk and coming to train tracks. They pointed out that you should never be on your cellphone, have headphones in, or wear your hoodie when coming to train tracks. The reason for this is so you can check for the train by looking and then listening for the train. This will help save many lives if we are not on our phones when near train tracks. Another example I’m going to tell you about is about two kids on bikes. The kids ride up to train tracks and plan to get on the train. When they get there, one of the boys stops and starts walking his bike. When he comes to the tracks, he stops and then looks both ways. His other friend has his headphones in and doesn’t look or stop at all. He is still on his bike and his friend tells him to stop and get off his
