Roly Pollie Party; How Different Types of Music Impact Pill Bugs Behavior In our experiment, my partner and I came up with the hypothesis that the vibrations of different kinds of music would affect the behavior of pill bugs. Pill bugs, also know as Roly Pollies, are small, black, terrestrial crustaceans, that roll up to protect themselves from predators. Pill bugs can't hear, but they can sense the vibrations from the sounds. This lead my partner and I to see how the vibrations from the sound would impact the behavior of the Roly Pollies.…

A digestive tract, reproductive organs, and blood vessels could be seen inside the earthworm. The mouth led to a pharynx, esophagus (which was covered by the reproductive organs), a soft crop, hard gizzard, and an intestine that continued on to the rest of the body. The earthworm’s brain was barely visible. A pair of small, white, ball-shaped seminal receptacles lay on each side of the earthworm, along with two pairs of larger, whitish seminal vesicles below them. Beneath the reproductive organs, a dark aortic arch was visible.…

Ostherr also convincingly connects her evidence to her sub-claims and central argument. In Chapter One, Ostherr uses the Rockefeller Foundation’s production of Unhooking the Hookworm as an example of how biopower works—the health film had the ability to either “help viewers imagine unseen worlds and change their behavior accordingly [emphasis added], or alternatively, to reject the visualization as implausible and, therefore, irrelevant to their daily life,” in which case biopower would not have operated successfully upon the viewers (Ostherr 46). Ostherr successfully supports her claim by further stating that Unhooking the Hookworm “illustrates the recurring idea that there are core differences between audiences of “medical men” and the “general…

I chose to investigate the environmental impact of gypsy moths because I have personally had experience cleaning up after these pests in northern Ohio and I know that they are becoming an issue in other parts of Ohio as well. I was able to witness some of the damage they have done while removing defoliated trees in Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Gypsy moths are a non-native, invasive species that, over the past decade, have been coming into the state from Pennsylvania and Michigan. The moth undergoes a complete metamorphosis and while a caterpillar it has the ability to feed on over three hundred species of trees and shrubs and cause serious damage and defoliation. The moth’s preference for oak, make the oak tree particularly at risk because the caterpillars favor it and a tree can typically only withstand two years of defoliation before the damage is permanent or results in the death of the tree.…

I saw a Youtube video about a dog infested with mango worms, and I was disgusted. I could not look away as the vet squeezed the dog’s skin, making the worms pop out. I could think of only one word to describe what was left in the dog’s skin as the worms left: orifices. I never thought that I could hate a word, but it turns out I was wrong. I absolutely hate the word “orifices.”…

At first glance you might think they are from out of this galaxy, you might think they are gross, stenchy ,or even rodent like, but in the end they will smell and taste like a dish from the last supper. Deep in the scorching southern states of America you can find them in every muddy, muggy swamp. I’m not talking about alligators or even turtles, that’s right I’m talking about the little red creature called a crawfish. Or better yet in the backwoods referred to as the “mudbug.” If you ask any fishermen what a mudbug is they’ll tell you “it is a dang good fishing lure.”…
