1.2 The Radiology Department.
The Radiology Department is one of the biggest departments in E.W.M.S.C. and is commonly called the imaging or diagnostic department. It houses a variety of professionals and is the backbone in the operation of the Hospital. Most patients are referred to this department have some sort of procedure or investigation done and only when the results are known then a proper diagnosis can be done. Radiology main form of imaging is the use of Radiation which if not correctly used can cause long term effects, one of which is cancer.
Despite the Department being one of the largest in E.W.M.S.C. its budget has suffered a 7% cut. The staff has to work with budgetary constraints while keeping with international standards of

The Leader must be able to guide the Department to Organisational Effectiveness. With leadership and motivation there is the underlying factor in Radiology; culture that must be taken into consideration when approaching performance management betterment.
There are many factors that affect performance and so the author shall investigate the efficiencies or deficiencies as it relates to the Radiology Performance Management Systems for this research paper.

1.6 Research Aim.

Based on research topic and rationale described above, the researcher is interested in answering the following principle question:-

How does the performance management system affect staff in the Radiology Department at E.W.M.S.C.?

1.7 Research objectives.

1. To investigate current Performance management System as it affect staff at the Radiology Department using company policies and mapping against pertinent literature.

for the past 17 years and is a specialist in interventional work with experience and expertise of working in a combination of Public and Private spheres. With such years of experience the junior and even staff at the same years of experience has problems; how the Radiology Department functions and this affects their work and even as far as their family life, the result is malfunctioning Radiology Department.
The author’s intention in completing this M.B.A. will; open an opportunity to higher level of management and with this thesis it shall greatly help in up lifting the standards and practises of the Radiology Department and by extension the E.W.M.S.C.
Summary of Chapter One
The Radiology Department is one of the biggest departments in the E.W.M.S.C. institution and is commonly called the Imaging Department.
