Finding one's self is never the easiest task in life and definitely does not always come easy to some people. I had myself and my career figured out and I enjoyed waking up every day and going to work because I loved working with animals. Although I enjoyed this field of work and the experiences I received I would not regret later finding out that I wanted to travel a different road. It was scary at thought and because of my age but I started researching other opportunities and alternate career paths as well as making the long journey back to California where my life had started initially.…
Radiologists are physicians who use cutting-edge imaging technology to examine organs and tissues inside the body in gentle, noninvasive ways. Their expertise in physics, anatomy and the disease process allow them to diagnose injuries and illnesses so treatment can begin. A growing subset of these specialists called interventional radiologists performs surgical procedures under imaging guidance in order to minimize damage to health tissue. (InnerBody)…

Therefore, therapeutic radiography has appealed to me greatly, as the content covered is largely relevant to the field of work that I wish to pursue. Therapeutic radiography will enable me to grasp the necessary diagnostic skills by recognising patient symptoms and therefore giving me the ability to prescribe and apply adequate treatments. Since a very young age, I have had an interest in, and enjoyed caring for others when they are sick or injured. During my Freshman year of high school, I began to realize that the medical field was my calling. I was not sure what area of study I wanted to pursue a career in, but I knew that I had an affinity for the sciences and the medical field. It wasn't until two years later, my Junior year, that radiography became the area of the medical field that I knew I wanted to concentrate on. I have been a cheerleader since third grade.…
During my four-hour observation/shadow experience with the technologist, I observed several different types of radiology procedures being performed. A few of the procedures that I observed included a Fluoroscopy Spinal Puncture Lumbar, Fluoroscopy Barium Enema Single Contrast, Fluoroscopy GI tube placement, X-Ray of left wrist 3 view types, several portable chest X-Rays, and an X-Ray of right Femur 2 view types. The first procedure I observed, which was the Fluoroscopy Spinal Puncture Lumbar, was performed on a 72-year-old female. At the time of the procedure, the woman appeared to be in good physical condition.…
The job of a dental radiographer is not only to provide patient protection and position, expose, and process dental x-ray image receptors. The dental radiographer should also be able to provide patient education – to be able to explain the value and uses of dental images. So, in this situation when the patient is concerned with the amount of radiographs needed, the dental radiographer can clarify the importance of taking the radiographs and the reasons for taking so many. For example, having radiographs of all teeth, roots, and underlying bones is crucial for detection and prevention of possible serious conditions, especially for a patient who has not had the radiographs taken for long time.…

The idea of working with young children, to veteran athletes along with being able to practice the art of medicine excites me more than anything. Its almost as if it is the best possible compromise between the two things I have grown to and will continue to love. My knowledge in the basics of anatomy, biology, principles of health science, and medical terminology have given me a head start over many students in pursuing my goals. I have been given more than the bare minimum and it will prove worthy in the long run. My interest in these subjects will give me the capacity to understand and apply these subjects when I move deeper into my education, even beyond undergraduate studies.…

I view medicine as discovery, the chance to learn the science surrounding the human body and develop the skills that will allow me to heal others. As I entered college, I pursued experiences that exposed me to the world of medicine, becoming more involved within my community and university.…
