Radiologist Career Research Paper

Many people enter adulthood undecided of their career choice. Even as a child, I knew that I wanted a career that allows me to help people. I have looked into being a surgeon, specializing in pediatrics, and becoming a physical therapists; none of those options interested me. After looking into my career options further, I decided that a radiologist is the career that most interested me. Becoming a radiologist requires many years of education and training. With several years of hard work and dedication, a radiologist can be a very interesting and rewarding career choice. Their options include diagnostic, oncology, and interventional radiology. Each of these specialties use imaging tools in order to diagnose and treat patients. Diagnostic radiologists diagnose diseases using PET scans, ultrasounds, and MRI. Also, they can detect how well a patient is responding to a previously given treatment. Oncologists specialize in diagnosing and treating patients with cancer. They provide patients with information related to cancer, and cancer treatment. In addition to providing information, they monitor the treatment of cancer patients. Interventional radiologists help guide doctors with inserting catheters or a wire into a patient. Instead of looking directly into a patient while performing the procedure, they use cameras and monitors. Conditions that require the use of interventional radiology include the removal of tumors and blockages within arteries. (Becoming a radiologist technician) Most radiologists choose to specialize in diagnostic radiation or oncology radiation. Given the opportunity to choose, I would become a diagnostic radiologist. Within diagnostic radiology, there is a numerous amount of subspecialties. One of the most popular subspecialties within
