Step 3: MRI Technologist An MRI Technologist operate the gigantic tube-like machines that capture MRI scans to reveal to doctors tumors, strokes and other complications a patient may have. The typical education for an MRI Technologist is to earn an associate's degree that is approved by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology. Once they earn this they are allowed to specialize in MRI technology while on the job, then they can take the exams of certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists an alternative route is taking formal MRI training at an outset and then taking the certification exams.
