The higher concentration in little amounts of time makes it seem safe, but people do not put into account the after effects and the alternative options there are to tanning beds. I asked a frequent tanning bed user why she prefers tanning bed over spray tans or sunbathing. She stated “Whenever I do spray tans I don’t look darker necessarily, I just look more orange and fake. When I sunbath, I get tan lines, plus there’s no good area to sun bath where I live so I’d have to drive to the beach weekly to maintain a tan,” (Pfeiffer).
