One shooting in the town of Ferguson sparked an outrage across America, but why is it that it started just because of that one incident? Is this because of racism in the police force’s across America or, is it because of African Americans disobeying the law? Some people are probably just wanting to know why the police shootings were not a big deal before Ferguson.
Ever since August 9, 2014; when the Ferguson shooting occurred, America has seen an outrage/war of African Americans vs police. The group known as “Black Lives Matter” has gone popular ever since the shooting occurred. The police and/or supporters of the police have a group not as well known as Black Lives Matter but, the police have “Blue Lives Matter”. Since the shooting the media has been covering any police involved shootings if it included an unarmed African American killed by a police officer that was white. A fair percentage of African Americans share of the police gun fatalities seems over-exaggerated . Today's law enforcement is based on information compiled from their data. Officers are being sent to neighborhoods that are mostly minority’s where people are the victims of crimes. A large portion of the nation’s population in the nation's largest counties are African American and constitutes over half of all robbery and murder defendants, and under half of the assault defendants - but a small portion of the population in those areas. It has been reported, “In New York, where blacks make up twenty-three percent of the city’s population, blacks commit three-quarters of all shootings and seventy percent of all robberies, according to victims and witnesses. (Whites, by contrast, commit lett than two percent of all shootings in New York and four percent of all robberies, though they are nearly thirty-four percent of the population.”
