Racism has been an issue for years, but I see nothing being done to help resolve it. “United we stand and divided we fall” (Lincoln). This quote supports the argument extremely well when talking about if we do not come together as one, then we will remain divided and our society will continue to fall. Of course, most white people are going to be against the movement because of what they hear, and what it seems to be but the reason behind it is much more. We should be more empathetic of the situation rather than jump to conclusions. I believe all lives matter and are equal. The whole purpose behind the movement is to defend the idea of equal rights for all people. “I do not need to be black to think that black lives matter...” (Gitlin). The people of the black lives matter movement have the right to stand up for what they believe in.
