Discrimination is something that happens everyday, based on someone’s race, sexuality, gender identity, appearance, etc. This is something that has been happening since the beginning of time; and will most likely not stop any time soon. Martin Luther King made a huge difference within the racial section of America; and President Obama made a controversial decision to make same-sex marriage legal in all 50 states. I see it every day, and at my job, I am expected to treat every customer with the same amount of respect I would treat anyone else.
I believe in equality. I know of someone who is very close to me, they are possibly my best friend… but he is different. He does not always get treated in the same ways as many other people do; but he deserves to. He is discriminated against almost every day, and it hurts me when he tells me what someone has said to him in that day. One of the stories that has helped shape my belief tremendously

That’s one of the reasons I will try to teach my children to treat everyone nicely no matter what they look like or who they are. Equality helps; it helps everyone feel included. It helps people feel like more than just a nobody. What they are is something they can identify themselves with, and if someone treats them differently because of what they are, they don’t feel the need to identify themselves as what they are because what they are makes them feel like crap. The ignorance of the differences in individuals whether by gender, religion or skin tone can cause injustice because you can not force equality when there is none. This diversity allows different viewpoints in society and those opinions shaped by the individual's perspective should not be caged by the principle of political correctness. I am a german scholarship student and observed this injustice in an official selection procedure. You have to undergo several tests in order to find the most suitable applicant for the scholarship. One of the tests is a group interview where we had to prove ourselves through communication skills.…

It is ridiculous that even now in 2017 people are being discriminated against and are not given equal rights because of the person they are. In Lakewood, Colorado, about five years, a gay couple who were about to get married were looking for a bakery to bake them a wedding cake for their day came across a business that refused them the service.…

My experience with discrimination was at work. An elderly couple brought a prescription into the pharmacy to be filled, I greeted the couple as they came to my window and asked for the id card of the patient who needed medication today. I took the prescription and reviewed the doctor’s order on the prescriptions, and realized that the medication ordered was something our pharmacy didn’t carry, therefore the medication would have to be ordered through the special purchase pharmacy. I broke the news to the couple who became very upset and disagreed with what I had just told them. The wife response was I don’t think you know what you’re talking about so I need to speak to a pharmacist.…
