Racism is one topic which is very sensitive and hard to deal with. Many people don’t like talking about it because they fear what other people might think about them. Although many people think that racism is not there, this is not true, racism is still and will still be there, it’s only how people do it that changes, on the foreground a person will condemn it but in background they are the real culprits. From the reading “Assigning value to difference”, the author describes it as, “generalized and final assigning value to real or imaginary differences”. This goes to show that as long as differences do exist, racism will still be there, unless people put their differences aside and see each other as being same, nothing will help the situation.

The video talks about how the movies shows women as objects only, but I think that’s one side of the coin. If you think from the other side, the movies I can say teaches boys how to be protective of women. I know some people will say it is a stereotype that women are weak, but that’s not the case. It all goes to how parents and older siblings interpret the movies to the kids. Most kids don’t see that women are weak and as an object, it’s us the older folks who interpret that way. I have watched this movies with kids and all they say is “ohh that boy is so nice he helped out the girl”, kids don’t see the girl as an object they see her as a person in need and they got help from a caring boy. But we being older are the ones who start poisoning their minds by negativity. At work places, at homes, in schools e.t.c. though women have started getting recognized and given same chances as men, to me women tend to be their own enemy. From the book the writers says in the 80’s, 57% of women identified with feminism, in the 2000’s only 25% of them identify with it. This shows its women who tend to bring themselves down. Let’s take an example of a college, most college student leaders are men, but the majority of students are female. Even if a lady stands to be elected a student’s president on campus, her fellow females won’t vote for her, you will hear some saying she just want to be famous and not care about her fellow
