Is the Criminal Justice System Racist? Why are people in prisons all over the country overpopulated with people of color? Does the Criminal Justice System treat minorities differently than whites? Is there something that would intentionally or unintentionally make for a disadvantage for the African Americans, Hispanics, Asian Americans? “About one in 33 black men [were] in prison in 2006, compared with one in 205 white men and one in 79 Hispanic men. Eleven percent of all black males between the ages of 20 and 34 are in prison or jail”(MacDonald). The Criminal Justice System isn’t fair when it comes to prosecuting minorities, but when it comes to prosecuting whites there is no disadvantage for them.
