Government officials claimed they were all the same, same routes, same teachings, same busses, same academic level, etc. There was a girl named Linda Brown who everyday had to walk miles, through very unsafe places just to get to her bus stop. Her father, Oliver Brown, was very agitated that his daughter had to do all of this just to go to school miles away because of racial segregation. He decided one day to take his argument to court, because the all white schools would deny his request to allow his daughter to attend the elementary school that was closer to to his house. He argued that the schools were not equal and that the school segregation had violated the constitutions equal protection law because he felt his daughter was not safe walking all that way to make it to a bus stop. The court immediately threw his request away because they claimed that the laws were equal enough to be constitutional under the Plessy Doctrine. Oliver got really mad and became determined to go to the Supreme Court and have it passed there. Although racism will never be fully over, we can do things to help the cause. These cases were starting points and they have brought us to where we are now. We can do so much more to help with this, but unfortunately some people today think of themselves greater than black people. They will always be problems but we have to look past it. In my opinion, don't let others tell you otherwise, stand up for yourself and what you believe in involving being racially discriminated. You can make a huge
