Racism In Middle School Research Paper

Racism is a major and sensitive topic which has been discussed for many centuries. Many people like Martin Luther King and Nelson Mandela have tried to abolish racism. But unfortunately none of them were successful. In the modern world racism has gradually spread, not only to older people, but also to teens as well. Now because of this people are getting hurt and feel awful about themselves. Picture this. It was a calm and soothing environment at Jack London Middle School. Until, one witness heard a teen saying “Your parents are illegal immigrants”. Another teen answered back with a vicious response, “At least my parents weren’t slaves”. The teacher turned off the lights in the classroom so the projector could be more visible. Witnesses say the second the teacher turned off the lights a teen said “Where is the new kid. He blends in too much with the scenery”. This quote demonstrates what racism looks like in a middle school. Bystanders say the whole classroom went insane and laughed a whole lot. But the new kid didn’t say anything after. He just kept his mouth shut and worried about himself. A few seconds later the teacher took immediate disciplinary action. She said “These kind of things will not occur in my classroom at all”. After, she escorted him out of the classroom to the dean’s office. Spectators say some students went over to check up on the student to see if he wasn’t hurt and was ok. But looking at his face, he was in no mood to talk to anyone. Then as soon as the teacher came back, class resumed. These racist slurs are just a couple of millions of slurs said each day. According to a recent study by Time Magazine,”10,000 racial slurs are posted on Twitter each day.” This statistics indicates that people even say racist remarks to each other
