It is especially important to examine this topic because of the diversity and uniqueness of every individual. No matter the race, there is bound to be some level of prejudice, and every race has some level of power, no matter how big or small the quantity may be. The power can come from socioeconomic status, culture, and genes according to Jones’ article (Jones C, 2000). This means that people from any race have the ability and capacity to choose whether they receive health care based off these conditions. As every individual from across the spectrum, health care is vital and a must in order to prevent and care for illness. Overcoming the obstacles of racism is difficult, but what needs to be done by the government is granting equal healthcare no matter what ethnicity someone comes from. America is famous for being the “Melting Pot,” yet some of the nation’s everyday citizens are not given the same health care due to their race. What can be done to overcome the injustices so that every race feels comfortable going to get the proper treatment is showing respect to one another, and educating the importance of diversity.
