“This article focuses on the health care system as well as health care providers and how racism and our implicit biases affect our medical decision making (Nelson).” The issue within racism is actually a really big problem. Personally I had no idea it was so bad. This article states that blacks receive a lower standard of treatment compared to whites in certain areas. The doctors are not trained to treat racism so it falls on their own bias. The doctors are not the only ones who are racist, the patients can be too. Patients can decline health care based on the color of the doctor’s skin. It’s quite surprising how anyone could be racist when giving or receiving medical care because it is all about saving a person’s life.
