Racism against aboriginal people in Canadian history is a terrible thing as we had enfranchisement.This was a process on where normally aboriginal people did not count as a person but if they enfranchised they could become one and be give the right to vote also become a citizen but they would have to give up their heritage in order to do so. Many did this so they could go to school vote or enjoy a drink HOWEVER some were unwillingly franchised and when you enfranchised you would not be “Indian” anymore meaning that they could not step on the reserves also giving up their heritage and culture than there were residential schools which was the another way for the government to get rid of their culture as they could not speak their language at schools. They were also removed from their communities.This has undoubtedly gotten better with the efforts with the first nations themselves with the Canadian government such as the Canadian government stating the constitution act to acknowledge the aboriginal people in Canada.Racism against aboriginal people is a huge problem but we also.One of the things that happens throughout Canada is the declining of resources because of their race and/or being denied employment because they speak a certain language as they don't want people on edge even they should not be in the first place.
