On the subject of racism, Thomas Jefferson will be our example of the White Americans ' view of Black Americans. For Alexander being a Black American female have a very contrast view from Jefferson. In her article "The New Jim Crow" she goes on and explains how a victim of racism is portrayed in the present day world. What Alexander mean by her title "The New Jim Crow" is how slavery is still alive but in a new form. Although there is no farm where people own one another, she points out how the prison is like a new place for slavery. She talks about how prison is majority Blacks than any other race. How even though no one own anyone, a prisoner is still forced to do work or community service work just like how it was centuries ago. She goes on and explains how Blacks are more likely to be charged with a heavier punishment than the White Americans even if the crime is the same and this is why she said a majority of Blacks are in prison.
