Racism, Homophobia, And Animal Cruelty

There are so many things in the world that I hate. That includes: racism, homophobia, animal cruelty, and so much more. I feel like there are so many people in the world that are treated so unfairly for the things they wear, what they do, how they look like, what their sexuality is- and just doesn’t make any sense. People should always be treated equally with respect, and not have to live a life full of discrimination. I think that all of this is getting out of hand these days, considering the fact that it's been making victims suicidal and depressed. It makes them feel like they don't belong. It's the reason why so many of us commit suicide, thinking they don't stand a chance against being discriminated for who they are. Racism is the reason why innocent African Americans are brutally shot by police officers. Racial slurs have been used all around the world in discrimination to anyone of all races and ethnicities. If you grow up with a family where some members are racist, or have friends who are racists, you might …show more content…
Someone who is racist somehow may have felt threatened by anyone who is from a different race/culture. As for animal cruelty, animals are treated just as badly as human victims. They get killed in slaughterhouses for us to cook and eat. Pets will often get abused and even killed by their owners. If you think that someone you know or have seen, is abusing animals, it’s best to speak up. And when it comes to homophobia, I noticed how the LGBTQ community is insulted and called out for being who they are. Homophobic people often use religion as an excuse to make the other person feel horrible about themselves. Some people just tend to live by certain rules of what feels right. In the sports industry, women face unfair discrimination as well. Women are being paid less while men, on the other hand, are paid a lot more. Equality is something that not everyone in the world gets, and I find that sad on so many

On Wednesdays, Steele was allowed to swim away from all the negative contingencies present in Chicago communities in the 1950s. Categorizing and identifying threat is part human defense mechanism which allowed humans to survive nature and evolve into the modern man. Identifying threat in nature allowed for better survival and by categorizing animals into dangerous or safe further improves the chances of survival. Unfortunately, this defense mechanism of categorizing and identifying threat in the modern world has shifted from animals to other humans. Describing someone based on their appearance is normal and it facilitates the recognition of that individual, but racism also developed due to natural tendency of humans categorizing subjects. In America, the land in which everyone is created equal, there is a clear evidence that equality between races may just be an ideology…

Homophobia VS Sexism The topics of homophobia and sexism have been discussed multiple times through out the Social Issues course in both class discussions, movies we have watched, and in the readings. In one article by Suzanne Pharr, “Homophobia as a Weapon of Sexism,” she describes the issue of sexism and homophobia as coming down to the ideals of patriarchy. Merriam-Webster defines patriarchy as “a family, group, or government controlled by a man or a group of men.” It has been around since the beginning of humanity. During the times of neanderthals, the men, who were seen as stronger, would go out hunting, while the women, who were seen as weak, stayed home gathering fruits and vegetables.…

I sat in my film class, my head against the desk, salvaging what was left of my attention span. The class was silent and dark and we all looked toward the screen somewhat attentively. We were watching saturday night fever, a film known for the way that it mirrors the 70s. For the teachers in the room the film oozed with nostalgia and the disco slipped people into a trance of foot tapping. Personally, my toes were prepared for anxious curling through the sexism, racism, and homophobia already fermented in the film.…

The ethical treatment of animals should be taken more seriously because of the cruelty suffered by animals at amusement events, factories and in the research field. Animals ethics is a term to describe the way the human reacts with the animal and how the animal should properly be treated. An animal is very important, the animal will know if what is happening to them is normal or not, many things people do to them wouldn’t be something they experience on a daily basis. Animals doesn't deserve to be treated any differently than humans.…
