Racism is defined as prejudice and discrimination directed against someone of a different race based on one’s belief (Webster). Racism during the years of 1900-1930 was very crucial. Laws were developed to try to limit the racism but Whites still found a way to treat others as if they were beneath them. Racism usually existed in the inner cities and that’s where racism reached a high peak.

This is a form of Racism because it was White people in makeup which was usually a black face doing performances and comic skits. Because of this type of entertainment Blacks were stereotyped and people expected Blacks to act the way the White people did who participated in the blackface minstrelsy. This is a big form of Racism because they are acting like people they’re not and I feel like it is kind of imitating someone’s character. In chapter 2 the author talks about how the KKK or Ku Klux Klan are like a group of real estate agents. The KKK are first introduced as a group of people who make harmless pranks, such as, “ riding horses through the countryside while draped in white sheets and pillowcase hoods” (49). They soon transitioned into a multi state terrorist organization discriminating blacks, removing the right to bear arms and forcing to remove schools were colored people went. Then, came Stetson Kennedy who lived with his uncle who was a Klansman but, Kennedy was against the KKK and wrote many books and articles. There is a perception that the American racist mentality is dead. However, this is not the case, seeing how the post- civil rights movement era is subtly reminiscent of the civil rights time period. That observation leads one to believe that all members of each race possess characteristics or abilities specific to that race, especially so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race. The reason that this perception that racism exist, is based on the ignorance society has toward the evolution of racism. Racism directed toward African Americans in the 20th century involved physical torment, which led to the destruction of the mind.…

The title of the documentary I watched is “Klansville U.S.A” it was made January 13th 2015, based off a section of David Cunningham’s book that has the same title. I believe this films overall thesis is illustrating what the Klu Klux Klan was like, and all of its values. The film portrayed its thesis by looking into the largest sector of the Klan and how it operated under Bob Jones the group’s first “Grand Dragon.” The filmmaker’s agenda seemed to include mainly covering the history of the clan to provide an understanding for the viewers then proceeds to take an in depth look at what a sector of the Klan is like and represented. “Klansville U.S.A” conveys a shady dark message on the historical significance of the subject and rightfully displays it throughout the film with a wide variety of examples that were gruesome and repulsive to an average person, but were praised by Klan members in the film.…

Today, there are still some isolated incidents that are thought to be linked to the KKK, but they are few and far between. The remaining 5,000 members have joined forces with Neo-Nazis and other far-right extremist groups (“Ku Klux Klan”). “The Klan of today has fragmented into more than 40 separate factions of varying sizes. There is no ‘one’ KKK” (Anti-Defamanation League). The Klan has a rather high association with unlawful activity such as hate crimes and domestic terrorism, which defeats their original intentions of keeping a good public image.…

America has had a long history of racism. Prejudice has invaded each part of American culture and hints at no diminishing. Amid the previous 500-1000 years, racism with respect to Western forces toward non-Westerners has had a much more noteworthy effect on history than whatever another type of racism. The most infamous case of prejudice by the West has been enslavement, especially the enslavement of Africans in the New World. This enslavement was proficient in view of the racism conviction that Black Africans were less completely human than white Europeans and their relatives.…

Conflict Assignment For my conflict assignment, I have decided to dive into the issue of racism, specifically drawing attention to the political statement made by Beyonce during her 2016 Superbowl performance. During the halftime show where Beyonce was a featured act, she took the opportunity to make a Black Lives Matter statement that was woven into her performance amidst the costuming, song choice, formations and other aspects. Racism is the name that has been assigned to the long and slow moving battle of the supremacy of ethnic groups, races and cultures. A system where the colour of someone’s skin is the only factor taken into consideration as they are ranked among the social hierarchy.…
