This showed me that no matter how rich and famous you are you are not exempt from police brutality. This article really allowed me to see that there really was quite a bit of wind filling the Black lives matter campaign’s sail. Fleischer said “ he’s speaking out on behalf of the millions of Blacks who are potential victims of the implicit bias and excessively violent tactics that infect some police departments.” I agree that their needs to be change and that police brutality against African Americans is a legitimate problem in America. Colin Kaepernick’s protest by not standing for the national anthem on national television is drawing the wrong kind of publicity. Colin is drawing more negative publicity than positive. Bigler did a study where they took three different pre-school classrooms consisting of four and five year olds. In each classroom they split the kids up into two groups and they gave them a t-shirt to wear. One group wore red shirts and the other group wore blue shirts. The teacher never pointed out the two groups, but the kids did end up feeling that their color grouping was better. when asked. Bronson and Merryman said that Bigler described kids as “ developmentally prone to ingroup favoritism” they also go on to to also explain that kids at this age “Children categorize everything from food, to toys, to ,people at a young age. However, it takes years before their cognitive abilities allow them to successfully use more than one attribute to categorize anything. In the meantime, the attribute they rely on is that which is the most clearly visible.” This explains why you should talk to your kids about racism. If they are left to figure things out on their own they will segregate and categorize, not because they are conscious of doing it, It’s what they are hard wired to do. This Is why it is Important for parents to have an open dialogue with their kids about race. If parents have open dialogue with their kids, then they will less likely think of their own group as superior,
